My fun fold card tutorial

As promised . Cut out a 12" x 12" cardstock.Score it at 3" and 9" on all sides.Score additional lines as shown on pic below. Fold on the scored lines well.

I like to punch the edge with my handy 3 in 1 craft punch

This is how it should look like when you fold on the creases

I usually cut the pieces slightly smaller in measurement as it doesn't disturb the crease

This is an extra piece measured at 12.9" x 6". Score at 3.2" from both ends to make the flap . The centre should be slightly bigger at 6.5"

glue the earlier card to the centre of the piece. Decorate and presto!

Attach ribbons to the cards to tie up.

This dimensional card tutorial is long overdue. Sorry for the delay Dr Sonia and Tejashree. Hope You find it useful.You will need :

4 pcs of 8" x 8" card

4 pcs of 4" x 4" transparent plastic card (optional)

Ribbons to tie them together

Cut out the template as shown above. The score lines is where you stick double sided tapes.

Fold on the lines as shown. I cut out a square to stick transparent plastic card on it.

This is how it should look like

Make 4 pcs of the designs above. You will need to attach 3 pcs back to back

my simple iris fold

Attach ribbons to the front and back pcs before decorating

Stick your decoration on top of the ribbons to conceal it

Black and White

Its another card day for me. The theme this time is "Black n White", thanks to my daughter for her creative idea. It is not as easy as I thought. Looking for an appropriate art paper took some time . I dragged my daughters all over The Curve shopping centre looking for this particular paper.

This is my fun fold card. My friends find it unique. It is hard to come by a simple black and white card. My daughter says this fun fold card will definitely be a nice wedding card.

This is how it looks like inside,just black and white design. I haven't completed the decorations yet. Working progress ! This is one of my personal favourites. This craft paper is hard to come by and expensive. Luckily I still have some left from a card I made earlier. To my dear friend Alice, thank you for bringing more wallpapers today,so many designs. It's like getting presents on my birthday. My dearest husband , thank you for being my soul mate. I'm blessed to have 3 wonderful kids in my life. To all my friends and family, you guys are my inspiration.Life is beautiful!!!

Double Tri Shutter Card

This is a simple tutorial I on how to make this card. The measurement I use is for a mini Tri Shutter Card. you will need :

6" x 3" card 2 pcs
2" x 3" card 1 pc
3" x 3" card 2 pcs

Kindly cut out 2 pcs of 6" x 3" card. Score along the dotted lines. You need to cut along the red lines. Make 2 similar pcs. It should look like this.

Next score at the centre of your 2" x 3" card. This is the base to link both the above card.

Place glue or double sided tape on the scored lines to attach the cards. It should look like this .

Now the next step is to attach flaps for the cover of the card. Take your 3" x 3" cards. Score at 2 " . Place tape as shown below and attach it to the card.

All Done ! Just decorate as your heart desires. You can always add ribbons to it as I have done on my earlier post. Hope This tutorial is helpful.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting new friends who share the same interest as i do on "Indian Craft Room". This site helps crafters exchange ideas and gifts. I stumble upon it when i was visiting Dr Sonia SV's blog. The members on this site makes beautiful cards and crafts. Dr. Sonia's pink purse card inspired me to make this handbag card.Thanks Alice for giving me lots of wallpaper. They are so thick and beautiful. The cover of this card is made using small pieces of wallpaper. I will post a easy to follow instructions on my next post.

Zip card

My new inspired card is just wonderfully fun to make. I used a zip and paste it between 2 pcs of cards. I use Elmers Glue as it is suitable to glue paper and cloth. Unzip the card and you can slot in an invitation. I think this card will be a great as a wedding or birthday card. I love handmade cards.They are a gift on its own. I always look forward to receiving them. The first thing I do is always read what is written on them. It is just so much more meaningful then the printed ones. The words written is always filled with love , courage , blessings , wishes , etc....

Leather Jewelry

I am one of those who always like to wear something unique and preferably cheap too! Over the years I have always made that a priority when making custom made jewelry for my customers. My latest creation is very affordable and suitable for all ages. The jewelries are made of Turquoise, Tiger Eye, Rose Quartz, Black Agate and many other.The price of these gemstone jewelry is between RM 15 to RM 25. The response is great. Yippee ! Mini Album

This is my second mini album. Lots of fun. I have started a collect beautiful craft papers . The excitement of finding new and unique papers is what i do during the weekends at the mall.Thankfully my children join in the hunt without complains. I'm getting my kids to spend time on hobbies like this rather than just playing games online. They get to express their talent by making cards for their grandparents and friends. My husband and I love to receive cards on all occasions from them . The cards are the best gifts for us as they are done with so much care and attention. I think making cards and jewelry are a great therapy to release tension and make some money at the same time.

Delightful mini album

Starting a mini album is exciting. Trying to complete it is another thing....I took about a week decorating my album. As i love to have an album full of pull-outs and flaps, extra planning is required . I did the same with my dimensional card, Feb post. Well, it's finally done! I'm proud of my work. Since i had so much fun doing it,I'm staring to make another....A little smaller one.

Accordion card

It's back to making cards again. This time It's accordion card. This is the cover of my accordion card. I used red and silver flower shape sequin to stick on the tree. It makes the card really shinny.

This is the inside of the accordion card. I used a variety of items to stick on it. The bunch of roses is actually wall sticker. I used some stick on tattoos and balance of wrapping paper. As I'm not good at drawing, this is a much better option.

This is a extra flap a made to make it more interesting. The pink oval part is removable. This card has ample to space to write and paste photos and messages.

This is part of the cover of the accordion card. The orange piece is also removable. It took me a few hours to figure out how to decorate this card and it's all worth it. Now I have to figure out who to send it to!

Weddings and wire jewelry

Weddings are special events where loved ones gather to celebrate a union of two souls. All the hard work planning a perfect day is paid off when the joy of laughter and cheers are heard . Elders bless the newly weds with shower of love and advice. The Do's & Don't. My family and I had the privilege of attending the wedding of my beloved cousin.....much awaited wedding ! Weddings are the only occasion where i get to meet all my relatives from all corners of Malaysia. All under the same roof catching up on the latest stuff. My biggest problem was deciding what saree to wear . I finally decided on a grey and maroon saree. Now i have another thing to figure out.... What jewelry to match?

So the easiest was wire jewelry. I realise there were some old bracelets that was just lying in the box. Dismantle the pieces, add a few swarovski and presto ! The reception was full of life . Many of them are wonderful singers ,taking turns serenading the wonderful couple.The groom sang "You look wonderful tonight", looking at his beautiful wife. I gave my husband a hard time as he hardly came close to singing the first line ! My sister in law looked so sweet in saree. The colours complements her. My other sister in law is 7 months pregnant. Looking forward to welcoming the latest bundle of joy in the next few months. Oh how time flies..... We were all just kids, now all of us are married. As i sit here watching the sunset,I wish life is always filled with laughter, no worries. No uncertainties. The journey is full of surprises, we may agree or disagree. At the end of the day, I would like to hold all my loved ones close to my heart as that bond is the only thing that matters...

Pearls jewelry

My fascination with wire jewelry has inspired me to continue using wire and pearls to make chokers. Combination of pearls and swarovski crystals meakes the jewelry dazzling to my eyes. It took me about 1 hour to make each choker. Quite easy actually. I'm currently in the process of making matching earrings. Now I have to find an event to try it out !

double tri shutter cards

My latest hobby has me making double tri shutter cards. The tutorial in you tube is simple to follow. Decorating it is the harder part. I love to do quilling. I love quilling roses. It is so simple. Just cut along the dotted lines.Using a quilling tool ( which can be bought at "Art Friend" in The Gardens Midvalley for RM18.00),just twist in to form a rose. I use these roses to decorate my cards.

Feet blings

My darling 4 year old daughter loves to wear accessories .She has a private collection of blings and hair bands to match her clothing. I made a piece of feet jewelry for her pretty feet. She was so excited parading them around. This piece can be used as a bracelet as well as a feet jewelry.

Using the same bracelets,I added on some extra crystals and made it into a choker. All I had to do was just add ribbons to the ends of the jewelry and it's done!

I'm always fascinated by the beauty of a peacock.So elegant and proud. The colours on the feathers are amazing. Using it as an inspiration , i made 2 necklaces that I'm very proud of. I made them using crystals and Japanese seed beads. It took me about 2 hours to make them.

I have always liked making jewelry with pearls. According to my horoscope pearls is my lucky stone.Pearl belongs to the ''Moon'' and the zodiac sign. Some fengshui expert says mother of pearl is a very symbolic stone. This symbolism is based on belief that pearls attract wealth. Besides attracting wealth and money, pearls also brings good luck. Oriental and the Chinese culture says ,by simply carrying a symbolic item containing pearls, a person's good luck and prosperity would become highly improved and enhanced. I feel every woman should have at least 1 good piece of pearl jewelry. Made a few new pieces of pearl jewelry to add on to my collections.

wire brass necklace

I have recently found some brass craft wire to make jewelry. As brass doesn't rust that easily, it's perfect for my new jewelry. Wired jewelry is so beautiful when combined with crystals and pearls. As every piece is handmade, no two is alike. The best type is 0.5mm to 1.0mm wire as they are more flexible to twist. It's always better for beginner to just use cheap 0.5mm wires that can be bought at any hardware store. Craft wires are expensive. I first started by learning how to twist each crystal without breaking the wires. It's truly exciting.Now i sell my jewelry on my website www.jewelin.co.nr . Everyone likes wire jewelry as they areelegant and not very common.

This is a wire jewelry made from copper wire and blue crystals. The end is replaced with ribbons instead of the normal hooks.

This jewelry is made using double pieces of 0.5mm copper wire and golden yellow crystals. The beautiful part about wire jewelry is the design doesn't have to be symmetrical .

Charity fair

We recently got involved in a charity fair by Hospis Malaysia. So many people came that day to show support. It is a great opportunity to bring your family around to have some fun time and do charity at the same time. So much effort was placed by the staff and volunteer to make it a success. My kids had a great time selling accessories. Another stall that attracted their attention was the games and lucky draw stalls. It was a great family day for all of us. Birthdays

I use to look forward to birthdays when i was young, can't wait to grow up! It's all about new clothes and presents. Now as I'm older it doesn't seem to be the most important thing anymore.My mom recovering well after 3 surgeries seem to be the best present of all. The only thing man can predict is, everyone has to go one day. It's a an open ticket with the date to be filled by God. I have 3 lovable children. A good husband. Wonderful parents and siblings. Sometimes all of us safe, healthy & happy is a priceless gift. This few months has been especially hard for me cope as my mom had to go through so much of pain. I couldn't imagine ever losing her ever. The fear of losing a loved one is unimaginable. So thank you God for giving me the most precious gift of all, the gift of life.

Crystals

Life is full of surprises. I always wanted to visit Melaka as a child but never got the chance...till now. My sis in law is from Melaka so lucky me, we went for a short visit. The "law of attraction" works in mysterious way.It's a beautiful place! The walk up Saint Paul's church is truly test once stamina, my at least .I was told by my sis in law earlier that it is not as easy as it look, especially after a eating lots of melaka style homemade popiah. As usual the stubborn side of me had to prove it wrong. The view of Melaka is surreal.From there we walk back down those steps to A Famosa. Aiyayai, the climb back up those steps to be beginning was a whole different story. My legs didn't want to move. Well anyway i bought a few handmade bookmarks. So unique.I just love handmade crafts.

I have recently made a few bracelets made from swarovski crystals and 18k gold. It's so sparkling,like diamonds. Making jewellery brings me lots of excitement. Using swarovski crystals is always a better choice as the shine last longer. Binding it with 18k gold makes it elegant. One day i would like to make a tiara using lots of crystals.Maybe my daughters can use it one day.

Love and Happiness

I was so against watching vampire stories. My daughter made me watch, part of it anyway.Guess what? Now I'm hooked on "Twilight" and "New Moon". After watching the DVDs, now I'm reading the sequel. I manage to finish reading "Breaking Down", a 754 pages book in about 10 hours. Crazy.Although I'm suppose to read "Eclipse" first, I couldn't wait for my daughter to finish it first. It's so much different from the vampire story we grew up watching. Count Dracula! It's so touching to see true friendship and love. I guess I'm envious that Bella found such a dear friend in Jacob.I'm glad I watched the movie with my kids as it gives me something common to talk to them. A friend rather than a mom.Can't wait for the premier of Eclipse next month.

Magic Carpet

My love for beading has made me complete a large beads carpet .It took me nearly 1 month to complete it.I'm sure it takes a shorter time if u spend more time on it. I love the vibrant colours. Seeing them gives me a sense of achievement. Now that I've done it, i feel like making another.My husband thinks I'm nuts to spend that much time and $$$. It's a passion, sometimes an expensive one. The size of the carpet is 60 cm by 60 cm.It's not as complicated as it looks. Even beginners can do it easily.The beads used are not crystals as they would cost alot to make a carpetof this size. So i used cheaper glass beads u can find in any craft or beads shop.It's better to mix lots of colour as it's easier to see the difference when u bead.It's important to use good quality fishing line to bead as they last longer and can carry the weight of the carpet.

Hari Raya Collections

Finished cooking. It's noodles today. I'm sitting here with my kids watching Playhouse Disney on Astro. My baby's cooking toys are all over the place. My son is busy playing with his Lego. My eldest princess is in school,extra classes. I miss my husband. He is busy attending a course in Cyberjaya.12 years of marriage, gone through the good and bad together. I love him dearly.If only there is more off days to relax and enjoy life a little more!

Well as planned i have made a few more chains to add to my Raya collections. They are a mix of gemstones with crystals.

This is a chain made from Fluorite lariat . It is said to aid mental and physical coordination, and inceases concentration.

This chain is made using Opal and Clear Quartz lariat. Opal has always been associated with love and passion.Wearing Opal is said to bring loyalty, faithfulness and spontaneity.

This is a Garnet lariat chain mix with many other crystals and gemstones. Garnet can be found in Sri Lanka and India. It can be found mostly in dark red colour. I manage to find one bracelet which is in green colour. Garnet is a powerful energizing and regenerating stone.This is a stone of commitment.

This is a unique Hemitite lariat chain. Limited pieces. It takes me about 1 hour to make a chain. Hematite can be found in Britain,Canada,Italy. It is a protective stone.It dissolves negativity and has a powerful connection with regulating blood supply.

For My Loving Ammama

Today my beautiful 12 years old daughter,Tasha would like to share a little bit about quilling with u. As she was the one who first introduced me to this addictive hobby, it's only right to give a chance to blog too!

Quilling is not as hard as it looks.It just takes a lot of practice.The first time i made a card, it was quilled flowers arrange in a shape of a heart and a quilling peacock image.It took about an hour or two to finish it. I gave it to my grandma because she was not feeling well. Plus it was Mothers Day.She was staying in ipoh with a relative .We went to ipoh on a Saturday.The trip took about 2 hours.We stop to have our lunch before visiting her.I was so excited i could not eat. I wanted to give the card to her immediately.Finally,we reached the house my grandma was staying.When i gave my card to her,she was so happy! I could see her face light up instantly! This is for u Ammama. I LOVE U SOOOOO MUCH!

The peacock card was made by my mom for my grandma.

Jewels Of Enchantments

I'm watching Barbie's 12 Dancing Princess with my baby girl. So lovely to believe in fairy tales. Cartoons gives me an chance to laugh and let forget my work. Well, at least for awhile. Lately I've sort of gone on a quilling frenzy. Trying to learn more about this amazing craft. Interesting how some simple strips of paper makes beautiful art pcs. I have my daugther and Wan to thank for this. This is a much cheaper hobby to indulge my self. I've tried crosstitch during school days. Turned out to be a disaster. That's when i took up beading. Now my hobby gives me a decent income.

With Hari Raya celebrations around the corner, it's time again to create a new catalogue. Below is a sample of what's new. Hari Raya reminds me of the wonderful choices of buka puasa food. We are simply spoilt with choices. The smell of lemang and sates, the many colour of jellies. Yummy!

The first one is made with Opal and Pearls. The 2nd pc is made with Jasper pendent with a hematite lariat chain. As for the 3rd pc, it's a simple turquoise lariat chain. I personally find lariat chains interesting as the can easily be used for casual and for a more sophisticated evening wear. And as u know Hari Raya means "open house". So having a lariat chain is very convenient.

I feel we are lucky living in Malaysia. No earthquake or bursting volcano, tornado, etc. We do have occasionally miss communication between people.Hey, even siblings have their ways. I feel somewhat blessed that i could sit here and blog in peace. Life is not always about reaching for the sky! Sometimes we have to stop and smell the roses. Take the time to count the little blessings in life. I recently found a friend who loves quilling (Miyyah@Kertas). At our first meeting , i felt so comfortable chatting with her. Felt as if i have known her for a while. It's our passion for craft that made us friends. I'm looking forward to making more friends and expending my love for crafts.

I came up with 2 designs. Simple and elegant. Ah! Atleast i think so.The one on the right is a amethyst necklace. Left is a black agate chain.

Bold and beautiful

It's pass midnight now. just finish completing a few more designs for my catalogue. I'm crazy about crystals and pearls. Using swarovski to bead makes so beautiful. The shine on it makes it look like diamonds. Sure wish i could find more reasons to wear it! Everyone is fast asleep . This is the only time i can update my blog. It's not easy being a working mom. Hats off to all the moms out there. I'm a loyal follower of Oprah.com. It's comforting to find that women share alot of the same issues. Lately I have been creating my own dream board. Interesting. I'm hopeful. I tried buying magnum jackpot numbers last saturday. I bought 2547. It came out 2047. Just missss it. Maybe next time.

wedding jewellery

I love celebrations. my brother is getting married next month. it's time to create new accessories to parade. It's one day we want to compare who is wearing what.Something new, something old, something borrowed!

I started beading as a hobby , it was a hidden talent . Soon i started getting orders and gave beading classes. It's like magic. I'm in a different world. Beading materials aren't cheap.

I've made a crystal choker as part of my collection. I love pearls. Adding crystals gives in a touch of elegance. Now i have to figure out how to how to make beautiful hand bows for the bridesmaid1 Any ideas?

Being the last in the family to get married, i guess i'm excited. My brother is lucky to find a partner who is just wonderful. She is from Malacca, a Baba Nonya family. She fits in nicely into my family. I'm the eldest in the family. I have 2 younger brothers. Both my sister inlaws are great in their own way.Sisters that i don't have.
